Health (Exam Q)

How do you define health?

  1. I believe that health is not just physical but also mental. If a person is physically healthy, but not mentally healthy, then I don't think they are completely healthy in general. Lack of mental health can potentially lead to physical damage and lack of physical health can potentially leads to mental damage. For example, if a physically fit person is depressed, they won't have motivation to maintain their physical health. If a person is mentally healthy but not physically fit, they are more likely to be able to become fit but they still need support from others. Therefore, I think support should be provided for both of them because they are both just as important.

    1. I completely agree with that you must be completely happy in all areas otherwise you are not fully healthy. Support is another great point, because if you don't have support in life, then you will struggle.

    2. Support is so important in life. I am blessed with such a great support system with family and friends and I know that this makes me such a happier and healthier person.

  2. I also believe that health is mental and physical. I believe that you can be physically healthy but not mentally healthy. I also believe that you can be mentally healthy but not physically healthy. I believe health is the soundness of body or mind and the freedom from disease or ailment.

    2. I was always taught in school that to be healthy you have to all the aspects of healthy. So i agree that you can be physically healthy but not mentally healthy. Or any of the combinations of health.

  3. Along with what Gabrielle and Morgan have said, health does not merely refer to a physical status or well-being. A person’s health, in my opinion, encompasses their status in regards to physical, mental, social, economic, and spiritual characteristics. This quote, derived from Wikipedia’s page on the word health, summarizes my thoughts: “In addition to health care interventions and a person's surroundings, a number of other factors are known to influence the health status of individuals, including their background, lifestyle, and economic, social conditions, and spirituality.” Not every single aspect of life is usually in balance at the same time for an individual, but the more the areas can mesh with one another, the more "healthy" person is.

  4. in my opinion, health is more than just the physical state of well being. I feel like you also have to have emotional, mental, social, and spiritual well being. I agree with Gabrielle about if you are lacking in some of those areas, you do not have full health. You must be happy spiritually, with yourself, with others, and physically otherwise in my opinion you are not healthy.

  5. Health to me is being in a stable state not only physically and mentally but also socially. I think to have good healthy you obviously have to be free of physical injury and mental diseases. I believe social well-being is equally as important as the first two however. You can't exactly be healthy if you are persecuted because of race or religion or if you are not recieving certain rights like the right to education.

  6. Health is the optimization of physical, social, and behavioral characteristics. this in my opinion is correct because we know that a positive health state encompasses many attributes ranging from the above characteristics

  7. Health is a combination of many aspects of life. This can include but not limited to, physical, mental, social and etc. There are going to be aspects of one's life that aren't perfect. This doesn't make them unhealthy. There is a healthy neutral state that people can be in which can make them healthy.
